Course 3: The Christian Worldview Discipleship Training
Introduction:
Welcome to The Christian Worldview—the third course in our discipleship training program. This course invites you to examine life through the lens of Scripture, allowing the truth of God’s Word to shape your understanding of the world around you. As followers of Christ, we are called not only to believe in God but to live according to His perspective, making decisions, forming relationships, and engaging with culture in ways that reflect our faith.
Throughout this course, we will explore the fundamental elements that define the Christian worldview. From the nature of God, the workings of the Holy Spirit, and the power of the Trinity, to how we view life, the afterlife, relationships, finances, and influence, each topic will equip you to see and respond to the world around you with Christ-centered clarity.
Session 1: Understanding the Foundations of the Christian Faith
In our first session, we will deepen our understanding of foundational Christian beliefs and how they shape our worldview. Topics will include:
- The Holy Spirit: His role in our lives and the world.
- The Trinity: Understanding the nature of God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- Faith: Exploring what it means to live by faith in every aspect of life.
- The Sacraments: The practices that shape our spiritual life and bring us closer to God.
- Life & the Afterlife: Our understanding of the purpose of life on earth and the hope we have for eternity.
Session 2: Navigating the World through a Christian Lens
In our second session, we will apply the Christian worldview to practical areas of life. We will explore:
- Dating & Marriage: How faith influences relationships and what God’s Word teaches about these sacred commitments.
- In the World but Not of the World: Understanding how to live faithfully in a secular society while remaining distinct.
- Finance: A biblical approach to managing resources and wealth in a way that honors God.
- Influence: How Christians are called to impact the world through love, leadership, and service.
As we journey through this course, our goal is to equip you to see the world not through the eyes of culture, but through the eyes of faith. This will empower you to make godly decisions in every area of life, to live out your faith with boldness, and to be a light in a world that desperately needs the truth and love of Christ.
By the end of this course, you will have a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of the Christian worldview and be better equipped to engage the world around you in a way that reflects God’s truth and love.
We are excited for you to take this next step in your discipleship journey!

- Lesson 3.1: Course orientationAt the heart of every great structure lies a foundation that provides stability, strength, and direction. Similarly, in the realm of faith, a strong foundation is essential for a vibrant and thriving spiritual journey. As disciples of Christ, it is our privilege and responsibility to not only believe in His message but to also comprehend the profound truths that underpin it.2
- Lesson 3.2: The Person & Ministry of the Holy SpiritIn this lesson, we will explore one of the most vital and dynamic aspects of the Christian life: the Holy Spirit. Often referred to as the "forgotten" member of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit is the active presence of God in the world and in the lives of believers. From empowering us to live according to God's will to comforting us in times of distress, the Holy Spirit is central to our transformation and spiritual growth. Throughout this session, we will delve into who the Holy Spirit is, His role in the life of a believer, and how we can cultivate a deeper relationship with Him. The Holy Spirit is not merely a theological concept but a personal, active force that equips us, guides us, and produces the fruit of God’s character in our lives. As we explore the work of the Holy Spirit, we will seek to understand His presence in our daily lives, helping us to live empowered, faithful, and purposeful lives for the glory of God.2
- Lesson 3.3: The TrinityIn this lesson, we will dive into one of the most profound and essential doctrines of the Christian faith—the Trinity. The Trinity teaches us that God is one in essence but exists in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. Although the concept of the Trinity is central to Christianity, it is also a mystery that challenges human understanding, as it speaks to the complexity and depth of God's nature. Throughout this lesson, we will explore what the Bible says about the Trinity, how it has been understood throughout Christian history, and why it is essential to our faith. Understanding the Trinity is key to grasping how God works in the world and in our lives, as well as the intimate relationship between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit that we are invited to be part of as believers. By the end of this lesson, you should have a clearer understanding of the Trinity and a deeper appreciation for the way this truth shapes our worship, prayer, and daily walk with God.2
- Lesson 3.4: FaithIn this lesson, we will explore the essential role of faith in the Christian life. Faith is the foundation upon which our relationship with God is built, and it is through faith that we receive salvation, grow spiritually, and live out God's will. The Bible teaches us that "the righteous shall live by faith" (Romans 1:17), which means that faith is not just an initial step, but a continual way of life for believers. We will examine what it means to live by faith, how faith influences our daily decisions, and the connection between faith and obedience. Faith is not merely belief in the unseen but trust in God's character, promises, and power to work in our lives. Through this lesson, you will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of faith in your spiritual journey, and how you can strengthen and deepen your own faith in God.2
- Lesson 3.5: The SacramentsThe sacraments in Christianity are outward and visible signs of an inward and spiritual grace. They serve as practices that deepen our connection to God and symbolize the grace He offers to all believers. The two sacraments ordained by Christ—Baptism and the Lord’s Supper—are directly linked to salvation, while other sacraments ordained by the Church, such as Confirmation, Holy Matrimony, and Anointing of the Sick, help guide believers in living righteous and holy lives. In this lesson, we explore the significance of these sacraments, how they reflect God's grace, and their importance in the life of the Church.2
- Lesson 3.6: Life & the afterlifeIn this lesson, we explore the Christian worldview on two critical themes: Life and the Afterlife. The meaning of life and what happens after we die are some of the biggest questions throughout history. While many theories exist across various cultures and religions, the Bible offers a clear perspective. As Christians, our understanding of life and the afterlife shapes our daily choices, our ambitions, and the way we live our lives. We’ll discuss the two realms of life: the physical realm we experience daily, and the spiritual realm where God and spiritual beings reside. Through the lens of the Bible, we will examine the purpose of life and the promise of the afterlife, and how these beliefs guide our living today.2
- Lesson 3.7: Dating and MarriageDating and marriage are some of the most significant and life-altering decisions we make. In our world today, these concepts have evolved from traditional, often arranged, unions to more emotionally driven choices. As Christians, however, our approach to dating and marriage is rooted in the biblical understanding of companionship, purpose, and God's design for relationships. In this lesson, we will explore God's original plan for marriage, the principles we should uphold in dating and courtship, and how to respond to the cultural changes and challenges surrounding relationships today. Our goal is to build kingdom marriages that reflect God’s will and demonstrate His love in a world that offers alternative views.2
- Lesson 3.8: In the world but not of the worldAs Christians, we are called to live in a world that often contradicts our values and beliefs. While we are physically present in this world, the Bible makes it clear that we are not meant to be influenced by it. The tension between being “in the world” but “not of the world” is a daily reality for believers. In this lesson, we will explore what the Bible says about the world system, how believers are called to live distinct lives in holiness, and practical ways to stay true to our heavenly citizenship while engaging with the world around us. By the end of this study, we hope to better understand how to live faithfully as citizens of God’s Kingdom in the midst of a world that desperately needs His light.2
- Lesson 3.9: Finance: A Christian’s Attitude Toward MoneyMoney plays a significant role in our lives—it influences our decisions, shapes our priorities, and impacts how we measure success. Yet, as Christians, we are called to view money from a different perspective than the world’s. The Bible provides clear guidelines on how to manage money in a way that honors God. While the world often elevates wealth and material possessions, we are reminded that "you cannot serve both God and money" (Matthew 6:24). This lesson will guide us in understanding the dangers of loving money, how to view money from a biblical standpoint, and practical ways to manage our finances in accordance with God’s will. Ultimately, we will see that true financial freedom lies in contentment, trust in God’s provision, and a heart of generosity.2
- Lesson 3.10: InfluenceIn today’s world, the term "influence" is everywhere, particularly with the rise of social media and the power of public figures. Everyone has the potential to influence others, whether in their immediate circle or on a global scale. As Christians, we are called to understand and use our influence according to God’s purposes. The Bible provides powerful examples of individuals who influenced others for God's glory, such as Daniel, Esther, Jesus, and Eunice. This lesson will explore the Christian perspective on influence, how God has equipped us to influence others, and how we can live intentionally with our influence to make a difference for Christ.2
