For Our Week of Prayer & Fasting

Theme: Thy Will Be Done

21st–27th January 2026

Know the Why: Fasting is about creating space for God — to seek His will, surrender distractions, and grow deeper in prayer.

Choose Your Fast: Pick a type that is realistic but meaningful:
1. Partial Fast: Skip meals (e.g. eat after 6pm)
2. Daniel Fast: Fruits, veggies, no sweets or meat
3. Liquid Fast: Smoothies, broths, water
4. Media Fast: Step away from distractions (if food fasting isn’t possible)

Fill the Time: Replace meals with Prayer and Scripture; Quiet reflection or journaling; Worship music or prayer walks

Care for Your Body: Stay hydrated, Rest if needed, Don’t over-exert, Eat if unwell — fasting is not a punishment

Stay Spiritually Engaged: You may not feel “spiritual” every day — that’s okay. Stay steady. Keep praying: “Lord, not my will, but Yours be done.”

Keep a Journal: Write down What God is saying; What you’re surrendering; Answers to prayer

No Pressure. No Comparison.

Fasting is about your heart, not perfection. Every step you take toward God matters.

Day 2 - Rejecting Satan’s Will and Plans

John 10:10
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life..."

Satan is the greatest enemy of every believer. Jesus calls him “the thief” (John 10:10), and rightly so — he is constantly scheming against us. He accuses, lies, and tempts in order to derail our faith and pull us away from God's purpose. But his plans go even further: he actively plots evil against God’s people.

Scripture makes it clear that these are not random attacks — they are the will and strategy of Satan. That’s why Paul warns in 2 Corinthians 2:11: “so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes.” As believers, we are not to be ignorant of the devil’s agenda.

But thanks be to God — we are not powerless. We overcome the enemy by the blood of the Lamb (what Christ has already accomplished) and by the word of our testimony — our bold declaration of God’s truth and will (Revelation 12:11).

So today, we stand on the victory of Jesus. We reject Satan’s will. We silence every lie. We resist every scheme. And we boldly declare the will of God over our lives, our families, and our community.

Let us pray with confidence and authority — "Thy will be done, Lord — not the enemy's."

Prayers:

  1. I reject every plan of darkness against me and my family. (Isaiah 54:17)

  2. Deliver me from every scheme designed to derail Your purpose. (2 Corinthians 2:11)

  3. Let every hidden trap be exposed and destroyed. (Psalm 91:3)

  4. Silence every lie that contradicts Your truth. (John 8:44)

  5. I declare Jesus as Lord over every part of my life. (Philippians 2:10–11)

  6. Let no fear or confusion disrupt Your will. (2 Timothy 1:7)

  7. Strengthen me to resist and overcome temptation. (James 4:7)

  8. Your light shines in darkness, and darkness cannot overcome it. (John 1:5)

  9. I stand in the victory of Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57)

  10. Let Your will prevail over every evil assignment. (Psalm 33:10–11)

Day 3 - Standing Against Opposition to God's Will

1 Thessalonians 2:18
"We wanted to come to you... but Satan blocked our way."

Matthew 6:10

"Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

Paul planned to visit the believers in Thessalonica, but he faced strong opposition from Satan. This is the enemy’s pattern: whenever God’s will is about to be done, Satan rises to resist it fiercely.

I believe you’ve experienced this too — those moments when doing God’s will suddenly feels unusually hard. On a normal day, you can go hours without food. But when it’s time to fast, you feel an intense, almost irresistible hunger. That’s a real example of how Satan tries to resist God’s will.

The Bible shows us a powerful truth: it’s only here on earth that God’s will meets resistance. In Heaven, His will is unquestioned, unhindered, and fully obeyed.

I want that to be the reality of my life — that God’s will is done in me without hesitation, without delay, and without resistance.
Do you want the same?

That’s why, as believers, we must boldly and confidently pray and declare:
“Let Your will be done on earth — in my life, in my thoughts, and in my heart — just as it is in Heaven.”

Prayers:

  1. Break every barrier standing in the way of Your will. (Isaiah 45:2)

  2. Open doors no one can shut. (Revelation 3:7–8)

  3. Let every spiritual resistance be brought down. (2 Corinthians 10:4–5)

  4. Expose hidden opposition and give me discernment. (Hebrews 5:14)

  5. Strengthen me to endure and stand firm. (Ephesians 6:13)

  6. Clear the path for Your will in my family, church, and city. (Proverbs 3:6)

  7. Cancel delays caused by spiritual forces. (Daniel 10:13)

  8. May Your purposes come to pass without hindrance. (Job 42:2)

  9. Let heaven’s agreement break every earthly resistance. (Matthew 18:18)

  10. Your will be done, Lord, without opposition. (Psalm 33:11)

Day 4 - Praying Over Our Families and Nation

Jeremiah 29:7
"Seek the peace and prosperity of the city... Pray to the Lord for it..."

Psalm 122:6–7

"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem... May there be peace within your walls."

Watching the news can be deeply discouraging. Everything often seems to be spinning out of control. With each election, we change leaders and replace one political party with another, hoping for something better — only to repeat the same cycle of disappointment.

Even in our homes and personal lives, we feel it: something is broken, and we don’t know how to fix it.

The truth is, it’s unwise to place the peace, safety, and future of our lives, families, and nation entirely in human hands. We try — but even our best efforts fall short.

That’s why we pray.

We invite God into our lives, our families, and our nation. We humble ourselves before Him, confessing that we need His help.

Do you want His help?
Then let’s pray today:
Lord, let Your will be done — in our lives, in our homes, and in our nation.

Prayers:

  1. Bless and protect every family represented in our church. (Numbers 6:24–26)

  2. Let peace reign in every home. (Colossians 3:15)

  3. Draw every household into Your saving grace. (Acts 16:31)

  4. Raise godly leaders in homes, community, and nation. (1 Timothy 2:1–2)

  5. Let justice and mercy reign in our land. (Amos 5:24)

  6. Restore broken relationships in families. (Malachi 4:6)

  7. Guide children and youth in Your truth. (Proverbs 22:6)

  8. Remove fear and anxiety from our homes. (2 Thessalonians 3:16)

  9. Strengthen the Church in Finland for bold witness. (Matthew 5:14)

  10. Lord, let Your will be done in our city and nation. (Psalm 33:12)

Day 5 - Deliverance for the Oppressed

Luke 4:18
"He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners... to set the oppressed free..."

Some time ago, I met a man who told me he once served as a church leader. But today, he was homeless, addicted to drugs and alcohol.

This is what Satan does — he specializes in bondage and oppression.

Too many people in our communities are suffering. Addiction. Depression. Fear. Hopelessness. Even believers sometimes find themselves trapped and oppressed.

How can we invite others into freedom if we are not living in that freedom ourselves?
And how can Satan keep oppressing people while we — the light of the world — stay silent?

But here is the good news:
Jesus came to bring freedom.
Freedom from every chain.
Freedom for the oppressed.
Freedom from darkness.

Do you believe this?
Then let’s pray — for you, your neighbor, your family, your city.
Lord, let Your will be done. Let the oppressed go free.

Prayers:

  1. Let those bound in addiction or fear be set free. (John 8:36)

  2. Break every yoke of bondage over lives in our community. (Isaiah 10:27)

  3. Let those in darkness see Your great light. (Isaiah 9:2)

  4. Deliver the oppressed and bring them into Your peace. (Psalm 34:17)

  5. Silence every tormenting voice with Your truth. (Psalm 107:14)

  6. Let chains fall off in homes, minds, and hearts. (Acts 12:7)

  7. Release hope into places of despair. (Romans 15:13)

  8. Empower us to carry freedom to others. (Galatians 5:1)

  9. Heal the wounds of emotional and spiritual oppression. (Psalm 147:3)

  10. Lord, Your will is freedom – let it be done. (2 Corinthians 3:17)

Day 6 - Healing for the Sick

Isaiah 53:4–5
"By His wounds we are healed."

James 5:15

"The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well..."

There’s a powerful truth in James 5:15:
"The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well."

Sickness is a sad reality in our broken world. Modern medicine can do a lot — and we thank God for it — but even it has limits.

God is inviting us to believe in something greater.
He has the power to step in supernaturally and bring healing.
But He asks one thing from us: faith — that we believe He can and that we believe He will.

And what should we do?
Pray. Pray with faith.

Are you sick?
Do you know someone who is?

Then let’s do this together:

  • Pray

  • Believe — that God can and God will.

Lord, let Your will be done — let healing flow.

Prayers:

  1. We speak healing over all battling illness. (Jeremiah 30:17)

  2. Let the name of Jesus silence every diagnosis. (Philippians 2:9–10)

  3. Bring peace to bodies and minds in turmoil. (Isaiah 26:3)

  4. Touch those in hospitals and at home with Your power. (Matthew 8:16–17)

  5. Strengthen those caring for the sick. (Galatians 6:9)

  6. May healing flow like a river in our community. (Ezekiel 47:9)

  7. Let testimonies of restoration arise. (Psalm 103:2–3)

  8. Break every fear associated with sickness. (2 Timothy 1:7)

  9. You are the Lord who heals – show Yourself strong. (Exodus 15:26)

  10. Let Your healing will be done, Lord. (3 John 2)

Day 7 - Freedom and Growth for the Church

Acts 2:42–47
"They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching... And the Lord added to their number daily..."

Acts 2 gives us a beautiful picture of what the Church looks like when it is truly free and alive. The believers were devoted — not pressured, not forced — but willingly committed to prayer, the Word, fellowship, and the breaking of bread. There was freedom in their hearts, unity among them, and power in their witness.

This kind of growth was not manufactured. It was not the result of strategy alone. It flowed naturally from lives surrendered to God and filled with the Holy Spirit. As they walked in obedience and freedom, God Himself added to their number daily.

This is the Church we long for.
A Church free from fear, division, and complacency.
A Church growing not just in numbers, but in love, maturity, and spiritual depth.

Today we pray that God’s will would be done in His Church — in Iloakeskus and beyond. That every limitation would be broken, every chain removed, and every believer released into their calling. As we walk in freedom and obedience, may the Lord cause true and lasting growth.

Lord, let Your will be done in Your Church. Let freedom lead to fruitfulness.

Prayers:

  1. Let Iloakeskus grow in love, unity, and truth. (Ephesians 4:16)

  2. Raise passionate disciples, not just attenders. (Luke 9:23)

  3. Breathe fresh life into every ministry. (Isaiah 43:19)

  4. Let the Holy Spirit move freely in every gathering. (2 Corinthians 3:17)

  5. Stir up spiritual gifts in every believer. (1 Corinthians 12:7)

  6. Call many into the harvest field. (Matthew 9:37–38)

  7. May young people rise in faith and boldness. (1 Timothy 4:12)

  8. Strengthen our leaders with wisdom and joy. (Hebrews 13:17)

  9. Add to the church daily those being saved. (Acts 2:47)

  10. Lord, let Your will be done in our church community. (Psalm 127:1)
